Treatments

Treatment services include everything from routine foot care to ingrowing toenails and diabetic foot care and assessments. Each patient is assessed and time is taken to listen to any concerns in order for a personalised treatment plan to be developed.

Routine podiatry

You would visit our podiatrist for routine podiatry if you have common skin conditions such as corns, calluses (hard skin) cracked heels and fissures or infections such as athlete’s foot (fungal skin infection) warts or verrucae.

Podiatrists also treat toenail complaints such as ingrown, fungal and thickened nails at a routine podiatry appointment.

What to expect at your appointment

History

Your podiatrist will take full medical, medication & lifestyle history if you are a new patient, or review if you are an existing patient.

Assessment

Before any treatment your podiatrist will undertake a visual and sometimes physical examination to assess the cause of your condition and to proprose a treatment plan based on the findings.

Treatment

Once you and your podiatrist are happy with the treatment plan, you will be treated in a clean environment, with sterile instruments in line with evidence-based practice.

Diabetic footcare

People living with diabetes are at risk of developing foot complications due to elevated blood glucose levels, also known as blood sugar, which can damage the sensation in your feet. Diabetes can also impact circulation meaning less blood supply to the feet and in turn can lead to delayed healing with cuts and sores and can also mean cramps and pains are experienced in legs or feet. If you don’t get these foot problems treated, they could lead to foot ulcers, infections and amputations.
